How to copy your BBLearn course content into another BBLearn course:

There are two ways.

The Course Copy Method:
  • Select the course you wish to copy from from your course list.
  • In the Control Panel, click on Packages and Utilities to expand it.
  • Click on Course copy.
  • In #1, choose Copy Course Materials into an Existing Course.
  • In #2, type in your course ID (eg. 2014FA-EDUC10101) of the course you wish to copy these materials into, and then select which course materials you wish to copy.
  • Do not click on the check box in #4 (unless you really want to copy enrollments to your new course - not advised)
  • Click Submit. Be sure to check your new course to make sure there are no menu duplications, missed files, etc.

NOTE: Users have reporting that portions of some courses have not copied correctly on rare occasions, so you will need to check your content carefully once it has been copied. If you find that a portion of your course was not copied over as expected and you would like to start again, you may use the Bulk Delete feature found in Packages and Utilities to clear content out of your new course.

The Archive Course Method (best if your course is small and you need a backup copy):
  • Select the course you wish to copy and go to the Control Panel.
  • Click on Packages and Utilities to expand it.
  • Then click on Export/Archive Course, and choose "Archive."

  • Next be sure that "Include Grade Center History" under #1 is not checked, and click submit.
  • NOTE: If you click on the "Caculate Size" button, our BBLearn course size limit is set to 150MB.
  • You'll receive an email letting you know when your archive has been created, or you can simply wait a few moments.
  • UPDATE: If you are a Safari user, you'll need to be sure your browser is configured NOT to open "safe" zip files automatically by clicking on "Safari" in your top menu, then Preferences > General. Be sure "Open "safe" files after downloading" is unchecked. If you are a Firefox user, be sure to choose "save file" when you open your archive file, rather than any of the "Open with" options.
  • After your archive file has been created go back to the Export/Archive page and click on the action link next to the archive file you created and click Open.

  • Your archive file should now be saved on to your computer in the downloads folder.
  • Go into your new course, and go down the to Packages and Utilities in the Control Panel and click on "Import Package / View Logs".
  • Then click on "Import Package" at the top of the screen. Go down to "2. Select a Package" and click "Choose File". Browse your desktop to select the course archive you created, and select it.
  • Next go to "3. Select Course Materials" and select all content files that you want to keep.

Note: Be sure to read carefully the list of what you're selecting to copy over to your new course. In most cases you will not want to copy over any user data. In some course materials there are items that you may not want to copy over such as Announcements and Settings. When copying over Announcements all your Announcements from the course you are copying will be copied to your new course. While with Setting some settings such as course availability will be activated making the course viewable to students. For information on what each course materials does click here or go to the More Help located at the top of the BBLearn Copy Course page.

  • Once you've selected all your course material, click submit.
  • If successful a message should pop up telling you to expect an e-mail when the course copy is finished. Once you receive the e-mail go on to BBLearn and look at your new course. Your new course should have all the course materials you selected.
